Teacher Spotlight

Hi, I’m Lily and I interviewed Mrs. Wright, a teacher at Erdenheim Elementary School. This is what I found out about her.

First, I asked her why she decided to become a teacher. She responded by saying, “ I tried to figure out how my son learned to read before he could talk in a full conversation. I just loved to watch him learn.”

The next question that I asked Mrs. Wright was what her favorite book is and why this is true. Her response was, “ I have many favorite books but if I had to choose one, it would be My Painted House, My Friendly Chicken, and Me. I like this book because it is about a girl who talks all about her life. There are pictures in the book. The pictures are photographs, not drawn by an illustrator.”

The third question that I decided to ask Mrs. Wright was, if you could have lunch with anyone in the world who would it be and why would it be that person? Mrs. Wright answered by saying, “ I would have lunch with Barack and Michelle Obama because they could hear what I have to say about education, and Barack Obama is the first african-american president.”

The fourth question that Mrs. Wright answered for me was what she did to get her space suit. She told me, “I won a scholarship to Marshal Space Flight Center in 2002. I got the space suit while I was there.”

I asked her what she wanted to be when she was growing up next, and she said, “ For a while, I wanted to be a physical therapist.”

Then, I asked Mrs. Wright what one thing is that no one knows about her. Her response was, “ My husband and I have really weird similarities.”

The seventh question that came up was where Mrs. Wright was born. She answered, “ I was born in Lima, PA.”

Next I asked who Mrs. Wright’s favorite singer is. She told me, “ My favorite singer is Stevie Wonder.”

The ninth question that Mrs. Wright answered was if she ever played and instrument and if so which one did she play. She responded, “ Yes I did play an instrument. I played the piano.”

The tenth question that I asked her was if she has any pets, if not which pet would she like to have. She answered, “ No, I currently have no pets, but I would love to have a dog.”

Then, I asked Mrs. Wright what her favorite holiday is and why is that true. She said to me, “ My favorite holiday would have to be Christmas because I love buying and giving presents more than I like receiving.”

Finally, the last question that I asked Mrs. Wright is what her favorite quote is and why. She responded by saying, “ He who does the talking does the learning.”

Now you know just a bit more about Mrs. Wright, a third grade teacher at Erdenheim Elementary. Talk to you next time, when we put the spotlight on a new teacher at Erdenheim.
